The main cause of coronary heart disease is still considered to be arteriosclerosis (commonly known as calcification of the arteries). Other risk factors include:
CHD can be acute or chronic and is the leading cause of death in Western industrialized countries. However, as the disease progresses, its main symptom, angina pectoris, develops.
Angina pectoris literally means “chest tightness”. This describes a sudden, burning pain in the region of the heart, which is accompanied by a feeling of pressure in the chest and is usually dull or constricting. Those affected often also experience shortness of breath. Angina pectoris is particularly noticeable during physical exertion, as the blood flow in the narrowed arteries is no longer sufficient to supply the heart with the necessary oxygen.
Preventive measures:
Possible treatment methods:
Detect and treat coronary heart disease early. Review existing therapies after myocardial infarction or coronary artery treatment and readjust if necessary.
Physical examination. ECG at rest and under exercise, if necessary. Long-term ECG + long-term blood pressure measurement, if necessary. Blood and urine analysis. Optional: analysis of the autonomic nervous system. Optional: micronutrient analysis in whole blood.
30 – 45 minutes
Appear sober / on an empty stomach for the blood draw.
Referral to specialist colleagues, if necessary. Prescription, if necessary. Participation in DMP program.
Health insurance benefit, otherwise the current official regulation of charges for physicians (GOÄ) applies. Optional: micronutrient analyses approx. 80 to 200 €. Analysis of the autonomic nervous system: approx. 75€ (self-pay price).
