In type 2 diabetes, heritability is just as relevant as in type 1. In addition, there are risk factors such as an unhealthy lifestyle and older age.
Type 2 diabetes develops over a longer period of time. Early diagnosis is therefore often not even possible, as patients feel healthy and fit for a long time. In type 1 diabetes, the signs appear much earlier, but hardly differ from type 2 signs.
